Welcome to our 'two' lovely self catering cottages in Askrigg: in the heart of Wensleydale, in spectacular North Yorkshire
Noted as a centre for clock making, hand knitting - and even bull baiting in days gone by - time has moved on for the charming little village of Askrigg which now has a more recent claim to fame as the location for the television series, 'All Creatures Great and Small'. Welcome, then, to our lovely self catering cottages in this haven setting, now known worldwide as Herriot Country.
Today, this tranquil village, surrounded by dry stone walled meadows where cattle and sheep quietly graze, provides a wonderful destination break from the pressures of city living and modern day life and a base from which to explore the region by foot, cycle or car. Consequently, our uniquely attractive countryside - plus numerous nearby tourist attractions- draws visitors back time and again to enjoy leisurely excursions, including those to:
boasting spectacular views of the Dales from the 'Shawl'. Middleham was also on Mary, Queen of Scots escape route. Twinned with Agincourt, the medieval castle is well worth a visit.
Also well worth including in the sightseers itinerary are:
RICHMOND, MASHAM, BEDALE, PATELEY BRIDGE, BARNARD CASTLE, RIPON, GRASSINGTON etc.
It is from this delightful setting that we invite you to complete your enjoyment with a stay at one of our:
